  • What type of roads do we ride on?

    Most of our routes are off road 2 tracks, some are smoother than others but all have minimal traffic. Though there is the odd horse or goat! We also have some single track available for the more experienced.

  • What level of riding do we offer?

    At Colombian Bike Junkies we have routes to suit all levels. We do expect clients to have ridden a bike before and those that are particularly nervous should talk to us first so we can support them fully during the ride. However we have downhill rides that can suit almost everyone and much tougher cross country and single track for those looking for a challenge.

  • What type of bikes do we have?

    Colombian Bike Junkies stock full suspension downhill Kona bikes in San Gil.
    In Medellin we use full suspension Trek Remedy 7 bikes. These bikes are great for downhill or cross country.

  • Where is Medellin and where is the nearest airport?

    Medellin is Colombia’s second largestcity. It is located on the central Andes and serviced by the Jose Maria Cordova International Airport (MDE). It islocated 40 minutes from the city.

  • What is the weather like?

    In San Gil, the weather is some of the best year round! It’s warm, but not too hot and not too sunny. The region is dry, and when it rains it is typically in the late afternoon or evening which gives the opportunity to be outside almost every day! Rainy season is April – May and October – November but even at these times of year there are plenty of sunny days.

    Medellin is known as “The City of Eternal Spring”, located at 1,500 meters. It has pleasant weather year round.

  • Is traveling around Colombia easy?

    It is very easy to get around Colombia, either by bus and or plane. By bus you can get to Bogota within 6 hours, the Caribbean Coast in 10hours or Medellin in 12hours.

  • How much does food cost?

    Meals can range, but on average from $3 to $10 USD. Beers are around $1.
    As Medellin is a main city adjust an additional 50% for meals.

  • How long can I stay in Colombia on a tourist visa?

    When you enter the country you get a free 60 day visa. Then you can pay $40 to extend that visa for a stay for up to 180 days in a calendar year.
