We start our adventure with a scenic 1.45 hour (approx.) drive south of Medellin, along the Cauca River Valley, enjoying a view of small traditional towns among towering peaks, and moving on to the incredibly landscapes of the Rio Buey Canyon.

This river make you feel completely disengaged from civilization, snaking through the remote cloud forest and backcountry Colombian farmland. The Scenic class III and class III+ rapids make for an exhilarating day on the water!

Once there, we outfit you with top quality gear. After a safety brief from our certified, multi-lingual guides** will jump into the river for a thrilling 2 to 4 hour rafting adventure! Please note that other rivers in the region may be navigated based on water levels.

This amazing whitewater adventure begins early in the morning as we depart from Medellin at 9:00am, heading south through the Cauca River Valley, a fertile region dotted with small traditional towns that seem suspended in time. This zone is home to the Farallones peaks, which tower over the incredibly lush agricultural area below. After the scenic drive (approx. 1.45 hr.) we reach the River Buey shores and get ready to run one of the very best rivers in the region! Don rafting equipment and – after a safety talk and an instructional session- hit the waters of for a wild 3-5 hour run filled with thrills!  …stopping halfway through for a well-deserved picnic lunch!

During calm stretches, our local expert guide interprets the surrounding ecosystem where local birds and wildlife is abundant. It’s the perfect conclusion to our adventure before returning to Medellin in the late afternoon, dropping you back of at your hotel!


Private ground transportation, hearty lunch, high-quality rafting equipment, certified rafting guides, safety kayaker, and personal safety gear are all included.
*Subject to river levels on that day, we might change the Buey River for the San Juan River. We want to make sure you raft the best option between these 2 rivers, for an exhilarating water adventure!

**Our tours include 2 guides: One in the raft with you and the other as a safety kayaker following the raft.

All rivers are class 3 rapids, no experience required, of course all gear (life jacket, helmet, paddle) transportation (to and from your hotel/hostel), hearty lunch, snacks, insurance, and bi-lingual river guides are included!

RAFTING TIME: 2 to 4 hours depending on water level.
SEASON: Year-round.
ALTITUDE: 2800 ft. to 2200 ft.(900 m. to 700 m.)
WEATHER: Daytime temperatures in the area average 70º F to 95º F (15º C to 28º C)
